Of all the various types of home exercise equipment that have come and gone, the home exercise treadmill has lasted throughout the years. Treadmills are simple to use. There are many competing models of treadmills to choose between.  </p>

Treadmills can have an AC or a DC powered motor. A few treadmill models are powered by the user rather than a motor. With treadmills you need to watch out for the impact involved when your feet hit the belt; your body absorbs up to two and a half times your body weight.</p>

The console indicates belt speed and other factors, such as heart rate, mph, distance, etc. Many of the treadmills available have the ability to add an incline to your workout to duplicate running or walking uphill, therefore increasing the intensity of a workout. Safety features on a treadmill are especially important if you plan to work out alone or if you have small children who might accidentally start up the treadmill.</p>

One of the key things to remember is that the larger motors tend to run cooler and usually require less repair and maintenance. A major consideration when buying a treadmill is the construction of the machine. Commercial club treadmills are reliable and well constructed; do look into a home version. Any treadmill with a belt that causes jerky movements while you walk or run should be avoided.</p>

Do your research; treadmills are an important investment, regardless of the price, and if it&#8217;s not right for you, you don&#8217;t want to find out after you&#8217;ve set the treadmill up at home. When buying a treadmill, the best savings will be for an online purchase, generally saving up to 45% over brick and mortar stores. The motor on a treadmill is also important to consider.  </p>
<p>
Probably the most important thing to look for in a treadmill is how sturdy it is. To make sure that your treadmill is sturdy and comfortable and doesn&#8217;t operate noisily, step on it and test it out before you buy. One indication of the likely longevity of any treadmill is to check out the length of the manufacturer&#8217;s warranty; the longer the better. Noise from the smallest repetitive sound can drive you nuts over a period of time and provide you with one more reason not to exercise. </p>

If you have severe leg conditions, a treadmill may not be the best choice of home exercise equipment for you. Better quality treadmills provide excellent cushioning to limit the impact on knees, ankles, hips and lower backs. </p>
<p>
Whether you use a treadmill to walk, jog or run, the units are very effective at burning calories, raising heart rate and developing aerobic capacity.  Lack of wind resistance makes running on a treadmill slightly easier than it would otherwise be on an equal elevation grade outdoors. </p>
<p>
And remember, home exercise treadmills are a large investment financially and in your fitness and much thought and preparation should go into the purchase of any new treadmill. Choosing the best treadmill is easier than ever. Take time to do your research, the same way you would any major purchase and buying a treadmill won&#8217;t be difficult.

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>&#8220;I need to lose weight. I need to do more cardio.&#8221; As a fitness professional I hear this everyday, and it hurts. Do people not realize that aerobics for fat loss are mostly a waste of time? Do people not realize that they could get much better results with interval training and still have a lot more time to do some resistance training as well?
<p>
You&#8217;re probably thinking, &#8220;No they don&#8217;t. Well, at least, I don&#8217;t.&#8221;</p>
<p>
This is because it has been long accepted that cardio is best for weight loss and weight training is best for muscle gain. Unfortunately, it&#8217;s not quite that simple. The real reasons are beyond the scope of this article. This article will serve as an introduction to interval training. In future articles, I will add some science and let you know just why long duration, low intensity cardio is mainly a waste of time when it comes to fat loss.</p>
<p>
There are many myths out there concerning weight loss and fat loss, and I am on a mission to debunk them one by one.</p>
<p>
But first, here is something you can do that is very effective for fat loss. It is called interval training.</p>
<p>
What is Interval Training?</p>
<p>
You may have heard the term interval training before. You may have seen that interval button on the cardio machine at the gym. Perhaps you even tried using the interval program on that cardio machine but really weren&#8217;t sure exactly what you were doing or why you were doing it.</p>
<p>
Well, to tell you the truth, you never have to use that interval button on your cardio machine because it most likely is not an accurate representation of the type of interval training that you want to be doing for weight loss. Most interval programs on cardio machines that I&#8217;ve seen just make things a little harder or easier every now and then. While this is the basic idea of interval training, it is certainly not the perfect design.</p>
<p>
So what the heck is interval training? Good question.</p>
<p>
Basically, interval training is a form of cardiovascular exercise that involves alternating periods of high intensity movements with periods of low to moderate intensity movements. In laymen&#8217;s terms, the work you are performing gets harder and easier in stages.</p>
<p>
A Quick Example of Interval Training</p>
<p>
Johnny decided to use the stationary bike for your cardio today. Performing intervals with the stationary bike is extremely easy. After Johnny warmed up for five minutes at level 4, he increased the level on the bike to 13. Johnny spent one minute going as hard as he could at level 13 before bringing the level down to 5 where he spent two minutes recovering.</p>
<p>
This recovery period is very important as it would be nearly impossible for Johnny to continue pedaling at level 13 for much longer than a minute. The two minute recovery period allows Johnny&#8217;s body to recover so that he can go back to level 13 afterward.</p>
<p>
This recovery period is known as &#8220;active rest.&#8221; You do not stop exercising during active rest, but your heart rate gradually lowers. Also, your muscles are able to recover so that they can perform just as they did in the previous high intensity interval. Yet, the blood keeps pumping to the muscles as you continue to work.</p>
<p>
Now that Johnny has completed his two minutes of active rest, he is ready to move on to his next interval at level 13. Once again he works as hard as he can at level 13 for one minute before returning to level 5 for another recovery interval.</p>
<p>
Johnny does one more interval at level 13 following his two minutes of active rest. He finishes strong and begins doing a cool down. This cool down is very important for a number of reasons, including avoiding dizziness and nausea by allowing your heart rate to drop gradually.</p>
<p>
Johnny spends five minutes cooling down by going from level 5 down to level one, spending a minute at each level. And then he is done. He spends a few minutes stretching before hitting the showers and going back to work.</p>

How to tone your butt is the most frequently asked question, especially among women. This is because for women, the fat tends to deposit there more than other areas. To make things worse, all the fabulous clothes that women wants to wear, needs a firm and tone butt! To be honest, nothing looks better than a tight pair on jeans on a well tone butt.</p>
<p>
A lot of people gain weight on their butt without them noticing. First of all, you can really see in front of the mirror. You will only notice it when somebody makes a comment and by that time, it is already too late.</p>
<p>
But not to worry, you can still lose that fat on the butt and thighs. Proper weight training, dieting and cardio workout can help you achieve the tone butt. The only thing is that you have to patient because it might be the last part that tones down. Understand that losing body fat is not an overnight process. It takes time and effort but surely the results is well worth the wait.</p>
<p>
The butt muscle, which is also called the glutes, is just like any other muscle in the body. It just have o be hammer with weights and it will tone up. Coupled with cardio and dieting, the fat will melt off.</p>

Here are some workout, cardio workout and dieting tips to help you tone up the butt.</p>
<p>
Tone Your Butt 1</p>
<p>
Workout you legs with weights! A lot of people hate training legs. This is because the leg muscles are usually covered and it is not so noticeable compared to the arms and shoulders. This is a very strong reason for you to consistently train your legs. There are 3 leg exercises that is a must do for the butt. These exercises are the barbell squats, 45 degrees leg press and the walking lunges.</p>
<p>
These are excellent compound exercise that works more than one muscle at a time. The barbell squats and walking lunges are free weght exercises and require lots of effort in balancing during the exercises. This will put extra amount of pressure on the butt. Do not go to fast in the exercise. The tempo should be one second up and two seconds down.</p>
<p>
Tone Your Butt 2</p>
<p>
Do not forget about the hamstrings. Make sure you perform these 2 super hamstring exercises that can really workout the butt as well. The exercises are the dead lift and seated or lying down hamstring curls. Perform these hamstrings exercises at the end of the leg workout.</p>
<p>
Tone Your Butt 3</p>
<p>
Perform isolation exercises as well. These exercises can specifically target the butt muscle without involving other muscle groups. Make sure your perform these exercises at the end of the workout because if you tire the butt exercises at the beginning of the workout, you would not have enough energy to do the other leg exercises like squats and leg presses.</p>
<p>
Isolation exercises for the butt are the glute machine and the abductor machine. An excellent way to use the abductor is to lean forward while keeping your back straight. Use the drop set technique. A drop set is a set, which consist of 3 sets. The first set uses heavy weights and low reps, for the second set, reduce the weight but increase the reps and for the third set, increase the reps again and decrease the weight.</p>

Tone Your Butt 4</p>
<p>
Choose your cardio machine that works the butt muscle more. Although all cardio machines are made to achieve the small goal, which is to burn body fat, the cardio machines focuses on different muscle groups. The best cardio machines to tone up the butt are the stair master or stepper, the new Technogym Wave and the elliptical trainer done backwards. Perform 3 to 5 cardio sessions a week for optimum results. One cardio session should be about forty-five minutes at the intensity of 75 to 85 percent of your maximum heart rate.</p>

Tone Your Butt 5</p>
<p>
You can also workout your butt without any gym equipment. Use the stairs more and avoid the escalator and lifts. Climbing up stairs is one of the best ways to tone up the butt. So, the next time you plan to take the lift, skip it and head on for the stairs for some extra workout. You can also tone up the butt by squeezing your butt muscles and holding it for the one minute. This is what we call an isometric contraction where the muscles are working but there is not movement involved. Do three sets, holding the contraction for at least one minute. </p>

There you go ladies and gentleman. A fabulous workout to get a well-toned butt! Use this workout once a week and make sure you have at least 72 hours of rest before repeating this routine if you intend to do twice a week. Make sure the intensity is high during the workouts, which means, rest should be one minute to one and a half minute. The weights you use should be challenging as well, if you are breezing through your workout, you are not getting much done.

Also, when these programs are named diet or theres a timeline to the diet, like 21-day whatever, our unconscious may hinder our efforts after the diet or time period is over. Have you ever thought, oh just 5 days, oh only two more weeks of this and Im done!? This prompts our unconscious to get rid of the diet, disabling you to go on and stick to a more healthy eating pattern and lifestyle.</p>

My Solution: Determine the real reason you want to lose weight. Guess what  it is not to appear good! Thats not deep enough. Why do you want to look good? The goal of six pack abs mainly depends upon losing weight by completing exercises that focus on the muscles in the abdominal area. There are literally dozens of such exercises including many that are meant for other major muscle groups, but that can be modified to include a workout for your abdominal muscles. Here are just a few of the major abdominal emphasis exercises.</p>
<p>CRUNCHES</p>
<p>Crunches are done by lying on the floor either on a mat or not, with your arms crossed in front of your chest. Many people do crunches with the hands behind the head, but this can create lower back problems because of the pull on the head and neck. A slightly different position has the finger tips placed behind the ears, rather than crossed on the chest. It is important not to pull on the neck or on the ears for assistance in rising off the floor. Instead, suck the abdomen back toward the spine and inhale through the nose at the same time. Raise the shoulders toward the knees using only the muscles in the abdomen. The entire back should not be lifted from the floor, as this is likely to create back strain. No additional benefit to the abdomen is gained by raising the entire torso. The key part of the crunch is the initial flexing of the abdominal muscles as the shoulders are lifted off the floor. As the shoulders clear the floor, exhale through your mouth. Complete the exhalation with a gasp to expel the last of the air from the lungs as your shoulders stay clear of the floor. Lower the shoulders back to the point where the shoulder blade touches the ground while inhaling. It is important to maintain the proper breathing control and muscle flexing to get maximum benefit from crunches.</p>
<p>SIT UPS</p>
<p>Once again start in a position on the floor with your feet flat and your knees bent. The fingers should be placed behind the ears, or you can cross your arms on your chest. Slowly raise the entire back off the floor while inhaling deeply and exhale as you reverse the move. This exercise can be made more challenging in several ways. For instance, you can do sit ups from an incline with your head lower than your lower body. You can then add weights on the chest to lift while you are sitting up. Weights can become heavier on an incline bench. The next difficult step can be attained by holding the feet off the ground while doing sit ups or making a bicycle peddling motion while doing sit ups with your legs. These exercises may not be easy, but are very beneficial to the abdominal area.</p>
<p>LEG LIFTS</p>
<p>Leg lifts begin with the legs straight and the hands at your sides while lying on the floor. Lift both legs up at the same time without bending the knees until the legs are at a ninety degree angle or a close as possible. Not everyone is flexible enough to reach the ninety degree angle. Lower the legs as close as possible to the floor without actually touching and repeat several times. Increase the challenge of this exercise by adding weights to the legs while lifting them. Another challenging exercise for improving definition and musculature in the abdomen is to hang from a pull up bar while lifting both legs to a ninety-degree position. As with most other exercises, try to stay conscious of breathing while slowly doing the routines.</p>
<p>JACKKNIFE SIT UPS</p>
<p>This exercise begins by lying flat on the floor with the hands at your sides in order to provide better balance. At the same time you raise your knees, bring your torso up slowly till the face and knees meet. Return slowly to the original position while in full control of the movement. The jackknife name comes from the natural tendency of the legs to bend at the knee with the feet dropping to the hips presenting the shape of a jackknife. The difficulty level of this position can be increased by holding a weight between the feet while performing the sit ups.</p>
<p>V UPS</p>
<p>This exercise begins with you on your back on the floor with the arms extended over your head. Bring both legs and torso up at the same time without bending the knees or the arms. Keep the pace slow and steady and reach for your feet with your extended hands at the top of the arc. If possible, try to touch your feet, but this move can be tricky until your level of flexibility increases. As with other exercises, adding weight between the feet increases the difficulty level.
